Two great books in the works

From the Heart by Ken Nye - This book follows Ken's first book Searching for the Spring and should be equally successful.  Ken's knack for wowing readers with his down home narrative style writings has won him much acclaim in a very short time.  Be sure to watch for the release.

Mystic Desert is our first attempt at publishing a novel.  A science fiction thriller,  Patrie Davis reaps big benefits from an early fascination with space and science fiction.  She began writing a 13, and it is a great pleasure to be the publishing company that introduces her to the world.

Our Editor's Poem Of the Month

Meaningless

by ellenb

Widowed

and left alone.

I've done well - considering.

But this note -

You could have just

said goodbye

but you did

so much more.

You laid it out so well;

No need to worry,

you planned for everything.

Everything -

except - that without you

this all means nothing

Meaningless relates the suffering of a widow who has been provided for by her husband, but still feels the emptiness of life without her chosen partner.  We feel the emotion in her story.   Ellen has bravely shared deep feelings by opening her heart.  As readers and fellow poets, we extend deepest sympathy to her.

Strengths:  Brevity serves ellenb well in this sad piece of writing.  She wisely keeps the words to a minimum and refrains from using a lot of descriptive terms.  The reader is quickly drawn into the story and its very poignant tone. MORE

April May Dance Until June.

by Leadaches

April's golden tresses
grace willow trees

and bless forsythia tips
near my mountain porch,
my heavenly perch.
My dog catches zzzz's
paws moving to
squirrelly-cued dreams,
but melted snow rushes
faster to the river

flowing towards valleys below.
Clouds almost touch my world
misting pastures,
while a rainbow bends to color
their gray and white canvas.
Summer slowly ascends
slopes below me
bearing the scent
of honeysuckle and devil's paintbrush.
I remain a speck of flesh
a pigment of imagination
on God's incredible palette,
trying to capture his marvels on
pounded, ground up remnants
of trees I've never climbed.

Second Place

A Sprig in Time by Ron Buck

Third Place

Clearly for fun, we had some very nice entries and we had a great time just reading them.  If yours wasn't chosen as a winner - check to see you used all the words correctly. One of our favorites miss used a word and was disqualified. Also make sure you don't go over the 100 maximum.

We'll have another contest in May ..... watch for it and a few other new contests in the Just For Fun forum.
